Udacity, the digital university raised $15 million in Series B, an investment round led by a venture capital firm, Andreessen Horowitz along with existing investors Steve Blank and Charles River Ventures. The organization offers free online courses in Mathematics, Computer Science, Programming and Entrepreneurship, and General Sciences to students who don't have finance, time, inclination or access to study in a traditional university setting.

Apple launched its iPad Mini on 23 October 2012, which put an end to fan's excitement after long time speculations. The company was buzzing about its next interest in the education field with the launch of iPad Mini and it has kept its promise by introducing updated version of iBooks for school children. Since around 2,500 classrooms in U.S. have entered the world of digitalization, Tim Cook introduced the updated iBooks version, iBooks 3 in the iPad Mini.

The recent annual report of Evergreen Education Group released this week suggested that number of students opting for online education has increased during the year 2011-2012. Students are largely participating in online education programs which offer them all study material and technology without physically going to the college. Also, many universities in United States are launching online courses for students to study at their own place.

On Monday, 22 October, 2012 Bloomberg's report suggested that Apple's iPad Mini is planning to showcase its educational importance particularly in schools. The report also said that Apple's iPad Mini event is expected to be launched on 23 October, 2012 in which the executives are planning to highlight the education capabilities of iPad Mini. The company has taken a big step earlier this year in education field by introduction of iBooks textbooks for iPad.
